Before you invest too much time in preparing a bid for a government project, find out whether your company or anyone in it has a relationship with someone on the government’s project team, including those involved in preparing the bid documents. Some relationships could prevent you from being awarded the project even if you’re the low bidder. Government agencies are concerned that awarding a project to a contractor that has a relationship with the government’s team will create an appearance of impropriety.
