Woods & Aitken assists clients in a wide variety of civil matters including complex construction and commercial disputes and litigation.


Ed Tricker has practiced with Woods & Aitken LLP in Lincoln, Nebraska, from 1977 to date with emphasis in construction and commercial law.  He has been involved with numerous complex construction and commercial projects, contracts and disputes throughout Nebraska and the United States.  His experience includes advising and representing businesses, public and private owners, contractors, subcontractors, equipment vendors, architects, engineers and surety companies in all aspects of commercial and construction projects including contract formation and negotiations, review, analysis and negotiation of change orders involving compensation and schedule delay, mediations, arbitrations, disputes review boards, special master proceedings and litigation in state and federal courts as well as the Federal Boards of Contract Appeals.  He has also worked on behalf of sureties, contractors and equipment suppliers in pursuing or defending claims in bankruptcy as well as other default matters.  During his career, he has represented clients regarding numerous construction and commercial projects including power generation facilities (coal, nuclear and co-generation), electrical transmission lines, casinos and hotels, water and sewage treatment facilities, convention and arena facilities, schools, bridges, highways, office buildings, hospitals, military facilities, canals, micro-chip processing plants, material handling facilities, distribution warehouses and airport runways. 

 

He was born in Owatonna, Minnesota, on April 1, 1948.  He was admitted to the bar in Nevada in 1973 (currently inactive) and in Nebraska in 1977.  He is also admitted to practice before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 8th, 10th and Federal Circuits, the U.S. Claims Court and the Federal District Courts for the Districts of Nevada, Nebraska, Arizona, Colorado and the Northern District of Illinois.  He received his law degree and undergraduate degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1973 and 1970, respectively. 

 

He has presented numerous seminars before owners, contractors, subcontractors, engineers and architects and has assisted in preparing numerous papers regarding construction, commercial and litigation topics.  He is a member of the Nebraska Bar Association, American Bar Association, the American Bar Association Section on Litigation, the American Bar Association Section on Torts and Insurance, as well as the American Bar Association’s Forum Committee on the Construction Industry.  He is also a member of the Design Build Institute of America and the American Inns of Court.  In October 2002, he was inducted as a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, and in February 2004, he was inducted as a Fellow of the American College of Construction Lawyers.  He is also a Fellow of the Nebraska State Bar Foundation.
